I have noticed over time how most (not all) vista bashers use very vague language when criticizing vista, which I can only interprete as lack of experience in using vista to any measureable degree, or any effort to learn.
How hard is it to turn the UAC off? Just a matter of few clicks if you really, really feel you must do so. What is hidden and tucked away to the point of annoyance? I find Vista's networking center better than xp's network setup interface. Did you not have to go through the same experience of learning interface anew when you were switching from 98 to XP? I guess some people learn slower than others.
Superfetch and better memory management alone should be a reason enough to switch above all. Unless you are stuck with and archaic system (in which case I, too, would have definitely gone with xp), most excuses NOT to use xp are gone with improvements in drivers and compatibility. Speaking of which, I feel people get confused by x64 and vista when it comes to compatibility. If anything, machines these days are powerful enough to run virtualbox for few older apps that do conflict with x64.
