notice how the mp3 is louder than the wav. the wav soounds more pleasant and natural.
someone try and encode an mp3 that sounds closer to the wav than my encoding does.

They both are the same volume on my system. I even have checked the dB output meter on my computer, and they showed to be identical.
Your mp3 decoder must be crappy.

woah you're right. I just played both samples in media player and they sound similar. But when i play it in winamp, i definitely hear a difference. the .wav in winamp sounds like the cd, but the .mp3 sounds harsher, the beat is more succinct - not as natural.
im using DirectSound Output v2.2.11 in winamp. what decoder are you using?
