Is using Kobe Beef in a hamburger wasteful?

yeah kobe beef should be eaten as a steak, not a burger... it is wasteful.

So the burger you ate was smaller than the ridiculously small steaks they have? Since you said they made a burger out of the meat because there wasn't enough for a steak... even for one of their ridiculously small steaks?

You seriosuly have no clue what so ever.

#1 Burgers are meat mixed with fillers, like bread crumbs etc.

#2 The burger was probably about 1/4-1/3 of a pound ie 4-7 oz.

#3 The ground meat from the burger comes from areas of the cow that doesn't make good steaks or roasts because why waste an expensive steak by grinding it?

Well, couldn't they take the hamburger meat (the less expensive part) from the same cow?

Even a Kobe breed cow have cheap parts. maybe they could make kobe hotdogs... hmmm

Well when talking about kobe beef, people generally are taking about what kobe beef is known for. Otherwise instead of having a kobe testicles burger, they could have a good burger made of filet mignon.

It basically price true kobe beef in japan goes for well over $100 a pound. And the whole massaging things really has nothing to do with the tenderness of the beef, its more for the comfort of the cattle since they spend all of their live barely moving.

oh, I didn't know they massageing was to keep them comfortable, they obviosly can't move much because the meat is no longer tender.

the whole not moving thing is not to keep the meat tender. the meat will be tender no matter what the cow does. they dont move much because the japanese dont have vast farmland like we do. thus why they also pay out to have the specific breed of cow (wagyu) raised on american land. japanese land is more expensive per acre and the grain is much more expensive, thus why true kobe beef is more expensive. the wagyu beef from america is exactly the same if the same rate of beef, thus why most people will never be able to tell the difference. they massage the cow to keep their body in shape because they dont have the room to exercise. the wagyu cattle in america have room to move around and are routinely exercised as per the request of the customer (Japan). the cow needs to actually stay 'in shape' it appears.

Many restaurants serve what they call "Kobe beef," but it is really American Wagyu beef, which is actually grown and fed in America. True Kobe beef is extremely expensive, and can only be found at the super high-end restaurants in America.

Bobby Flay seems like he loses a lot. Compared to the original Iron Chef, where the Iron Chef almost always wins, I've seen several times where Bobby Flay loses to the challanger.

I'd be curious as to what his record was. The Food Network site doesn't list it.

Never heard of it, but if it's too good for a burger then how do you eat it? The hamburger is one of man's greatest inventions.

It's a losing record, and he got beaten by a rookie, someone who never competed before, granted it was a close game. You are right though, in the new Iron Chef the challengers often win, in the original one the Iron Chefs were unstoppable.
