Is Ultrasurf proxy safe?

I've seen a lot of bickering the past few years about whether or not this is safe. It seems many antivirus programs are now flagging it as malware, including antivir that I use.

What's the latest consensus?

Dunno, why not use Tor? That's free and open source. You, or someone you trust can look at the code, and tell you if it's clean.

Edit:
A brief Google says that it's a false positive. If you got it from a trusted source, it should be ok.
