At least Trump knows how to talk without a teleprompter.

What most good politicians say is absolutely meaningless and just a bunch of misdirection. Do politicians ever answer a straight question anyway?

One can only hope that this is an attempt to out-retard the tea-partiers so that the Republican party can nominate a respectable candidate out of disgust.

Joe Rogan had a good joke that with Bush, they were just testing the waters to see just how dumb a president could be and still get voted into office.

This held true again in 2008 with the huge hype for Sarah Palin. Who before being announced as VP candidate w\ McCain probably was known by less than 0.005% of americans.

when ~50% of Republicans are saying that they're dissatisfied with their options in the current field.

You can't say Romney is a serious contender because of his position in the polls and say that the guy beating him in those same polls is not a serious contender.

Not that I take him seriously or think he's running.

if all Romney had were a few polls, I don't think I'd take him that seriously.

he's also got the groundwork for a serious run in place and he doesn't have 2 decades under his belt of publicly toying with the idea before backing out.

Trump is getting his bump in the polls for 1 reason: He is willing to say almost anythng without being concerned about the consequences. People find that a refreshing difference from the run of the mill weasel professional politician but I doubt it will carry him very far in the primaries should he actually run.

Sounds plausible to me. You never really know though; when Obama announced, all the pundits were of the opinion that he had zero chance and was only announcing to be an outside pick for veep and to set himself up for a serious run later. Never overestimate our voters, the Pubbies have just as many reality show-watching mouth-breathers as do the Dems.

At least Trump knows how to talk without a teleprompter...
Kowtowing to corporate and banking interests, continuing possible civil rights and Constitutional violations from the Bush administration, continuing Bush administration militarism and preemptive interventionism, ceding Health Care reform leadership to questionable Congressional interests, yet still you obsess on the teleprompter... I hope you do realize that he's not the first president to use one.

May 16th NBC announces their fall lineup. I bet he quits the 15th...

btw any evidence of his so called investigation in Hawaii? Anyone have any links?

Anyone see the bits of his interview by Stephanpolous? Wow. Threw himself in the deep end and got upset when he started sinking.

Don't be daft. The election is ~18 months out, so none of the polls can be taken all that seriously. You know how some young guys date crazy chicks they'd never marry just for the short-term thrills, and as they grow older, mature, and look to settle down, eventually drift to the sort of women you can actually bring home to mom? It's like that with Trump. He's the crazy chick you tell pollsters you're currently seeing, even if you know for sure you won't be in a relationship with him come Nov. 2012.

It's the usual American arrogance of mistaking the ability to make money with actual intelligence. A hurdy gurdy monkey can make money and, in his case, he even inherited the hurdy gurdy.

This. I don't know how many times I've heard people say "He's real smart, he's rich". The only common denomenator that I've found with wealthy entrepenures is that they want to be rich. Some of them are the dumbest people I've known.

I've never been a fan of Trump, but I'd feel a lot better about his momentum if he were not hammering this birth certificate nonsense. For the rest of his positions, he has made so many statements with so little actual apparent thought that I can't really evaluate him seriously.

I predict he won't run, but if he does run, and he gets the Pubbie nod, I think the Messiah will experience the second coming of his electoral majority. As long as Obama doesn't seem likely to regain the House in 2012, a pox on both parties, I'm voting Libertarian. Sweet gridlock, blessed be thy name.

Donald's not playing me for a sucker... I even have the perfect campaign theme song he should use... Bohemian Rhapsody. You know. With the line "any way the wind blows", as to his platform. da da da da DA Da... da da da da DA Da... DOnald... oh oh ooooh oh... Nothing really matters... to... meeeeee... (heheheeeeee)
