How would the 1080ti (MSI GTX 1080 ti Gaming X Trio) perform with a triple 27" 1440p monitor setup? The resolution would be 7680 x 1440

I wont be playing any competitive games in that setup, it'll be mostly older games like
  1. Skyrim Legenday Edition (Heavily Modded)
  2. Metro redux
  3. NFS MW 2012
  4. NFS Rivals,
  5. Mass effect 1, 2, 3
  6. The Bureau - XCOM Declassified
  7. XCom EU With Long War Mod
  8. State Of Decay 1, 2
  9. The Amazing Spider Man 1, 2
  10. Spider Man Shattered Dimensions
  11. Spider Man Web Of Shadows
  12. Borderlands 1, 2
  13. Crysis 1, 2, 3
  14. Dead Space 1, 2, 3
  15. Wolfenstein - The New Order
  16. Darksiders 1, 2 (3 maybe idk)
  17. Dawn of War Dark Crusade and Soulstorm
  18. Dungeon Siege 1, 2
  19. Bulletstorm
  20. Deadpool
  21. Divine Divinity and its series
  22. Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning
  23. Lichdom Battlemage
  24. Shadowrun Dragon Fall, Hong kong
  25. Singularity
  26. The Sims 4
  27. Torchlight 1, 2
  28. Warhammer 40.000 - Space Marine
  29. YAIBA - Ninja Gaiden Z
  30. Dragon Ball - Xenoverse 1, 2
  31. Dragon Age 1, 2, 3
  32. Dragon's Dogma - Dark Arisen
  33. Dying Light
  34. Enemy Territory Quake Wars
  35. Fallout 3
  36. Gears Of War 1
  37. Ghost Recon - Future Soldier
  38. Halo 1, 2
  39. Left 4 Dead 1, 2
  40. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1, 2
  41. X-Men Legends 2 -
  42. Metal Gear Solid V - The Phantom Pain
  43. NieR - Automata
  44. Pillars of Eternity
  45. Rocket League
  46. Silver Fall
  47. Sniper Elite 1, 2, 3
  48. Sins Of A Solar Empire - Rebellion (With Mods)
  49. Space Hulk Death Wing
  50. Zoo Tycoon 2
  51. Burnout Paradise
  52. Prototype

Well sorry for the long list of games but you get the gist of things, am sure i've missed a lot more games that i'd like to play but yea these are the kinda games i'd want to play on my triple monitor setup.

I currently have
  • 1x 24" 1080p @ 60hz monitor
  • 1x 27" 1440p GSync @ 165 hz monitor

I use the Gsync one when playing competitive games like
  1. Planetside 2
  2. Paladins
  3. Renegade X
  4. Mech Warriors Living Legends

and i will keep using it as my main monitor for all competitive gaming, its just i'd switch to the triple monitor setup when playing games that needs immersion as I really dont care about the FPS in such games as long as they are above 30 FPS (i prefer eye candy in these games), i just want to know how the card will perform and if its even worth it, please do note that, I've never played on a triple monitor or even a dual monitor setup so i have zero experience but i do have a 55" 4k Samsung TV that i play my games on from the couch when i want more relaxed gaming. Thank you

I tried it awhile ago and it was cool initially but eventually I went back to a single monitor. All the stuff on the sides was more distracting than immersive.

3x monitors are only good for racing, and flight simulators. Otherwise, no.

I though it'd be really cool to play spiderman games on triple monitor setup, also some RPG's with good views? and those survival horror games ? like i said i really dont have any experience so am just assuming from what I've seen on youtube

Used an eyefinity setup for a few years and when it worked properly it was kind of neat but there were too many drawbacks to having three monitors operating then it was worth imo. Despite this. there were some really net 3rd party tools and some community support that made a lot of games usable but most of the time the amount of effort outweighed the actual enjoyment. Mass Effect 2 was actually pretty dope on Eyefinity though.

Ultrawide > 3 screens

The only game I played extensively with 3 monitors was Dragon Age:Origins. It was a great experience playing on 3 24" monitors but I have since been doing all gaming on a 65" 4k TV.

I did the same thing as you. Dragon Age: Origins on my 5870. Also lots of World of Warcraft.

Now I game on a 27" 4k monitor and I will soon(tm) build a SFF PC and hook it to my 55" 4k TV.

I used a 5770 at the time. It worked surprisingly well. With a core 2 quad cpu. 8500 I think.

When I had my AMD 7970, I had a 3monitor setup. Most games did not work properly with it back then. Example: The UI doesn't center. It will either crop, distort, place things who knows where. I ultimately stopped using it because it ended up being a larger pain in the butt than the benefit it brought. It was a fun idea though. I just wish it bad better support.

I've tried some of the above games with nvida DRS 4.0 to see what frames i'd get in that res and i'd say am not really impressed while usually hovering above 30 FPS in most games with max settings the games did felt sluggish. I dunno, i cant put my finger on it but the games felt slower and more sluggish and less responsive even though the frame rate was stable, maybe that's cause i am used to high fps usually and that further throws me into confusion, if i dont like the frame rate i am getting then is it even worth it? i dunno i just need some convincing. Maybe if i turn down some settings down i might get playable frame rate and smoother game idk.

I had triple setup for a while at the start of Eyefinity and it was pretty fun, but since then with the introduction of UltraWides, I don't think the issues that you invite with a triple setup are worth the experience. I'd say look into a good 3440x1440 if you want that wider experience.

I think 3x 16:9 is to much, i used to do eyefinity with 3x5:4's and that was great. But the monitors where old , pannels not great etc. Now i use a single 35inch 21:9 1440P 100hz free sync monitor. Over all the experience is better but i still prefer the FOV of 3x 5:4.

It should be noted, unless things have changed, that nVidia's multimonitor support for gaming is not spectacular. The displays have to all be connected via the same display interface, and have to be the same resolution. AMD's setup will allow for mixed monitor types (Although this also isn't perfect, as I recall there was an issue if DL-DVI was being used, but thats been a while).

But really, if there was one good use for the ultra-wide curved displays, its to replace multiple monitors. It gets rid of all the issues related to displays matching or not, and interfaces and such.

No. I have 2x1080p with 1x1440/144hz in the center. First off, nVidia wont do multi resolution spans like that, so unless you downgrade the middle monitor to 1080p/60 and do a bunch of fiddling with custom resolutions it wont even turn on. Unless all 3 monitors are identical specs, nVidia does not play nice with it.

Second, even when I do get it working, almost no games support it any more. It used to be decently supported when it was more popular, but it isn't anymore. I can't even remember the last game that worked right with it out of the box. You can mod about 1/4 of those games to work.

When it does work its amazing, and I love it. But most often you just load into a menu that thinks the the monitor is 16:9 at your width and so you see like 3 lines of enormous 200 point text and can't even navigate to the video options to try and fix it

This has been my experience too. The peak of it working nicely was right around the r9 290 release window, IMO. Games since then have focused on other gimmicks. Once VR came on the scene, developers left eyefinity by the way side.

ROG Strix 49" 3840x1080 UUW 32:9 144hz is the closest to this being practical today.

I still prefer 21:9 as the sweet spot personally.

I have a workstation with triple 27" 1440's and I usually end up just gaming on one monitor. It is distracting to have to physically turn your head side to side. Also the graphics can get really stretched out and strange looking. BUT it can save your butt if you are in try hard mode. Once in a great while I'll do it. If its the right game, in high energy mode, then it can be nice.

In our household we also run a 42" 4k on one workstation. When I game on it, usually its with only half the vertical area. Otherwise I have to look up and down. The opposite problem as the other one.

I think what would be a nice compromise is a PLP setup. A little extra side screen, but not too much. A 27" or 30" with a couple of 20's or 22's on the side. Unfortunately nobody seems to support those kinds of shenanigans anymore.

You're way better off getting an ultra-wide. No Seams. Better support (though even it is spotty sometimes) And you can just play 16:9 if you want to. If you want real immersion just go VR. 3 monitors is just a ton of extra expense for very little benefit I think.

If you're blowing a bunch of cash on new monitors, then no don't do triples. It really boils down to how much joy you will get from seeing the "7680" option on your screen, and how much it costs you to get at it. If you find some killer deals on used screens, sure why not..

As others stated, I would only use a triple setup for a racing cockpit, or flight simulator, for FPS games only one, and maybe for some RPG a dual setup. Good luck.
