I don think it's dying anytime soon - in fact, I think it's getting bigger in the US. For example, Tiesto just got nominated for a Grammy!

I think the death of Trance is if it ever becomes mainstream in the US and is played regularly on radio stations. I personally like the somewhat underground following it has in this country right now.

In 2025, just make sure the beat coming out of your iPod matches your iPacemaker.

Eh I don't know, i think it will stick around for a while, it never got that big in the US.

I like trance, but can't listen to it all day.

I enjoy electronic music a lot though, but I would say I am more into Dance and then stuff like the Chemical Brothers...

I mean who doesn't enjoy this? NSFW

I'm not so much a fan of disco but I do like trance. I imagine that disco was more of an American thing, by and large, but trance really seems global and as such probably has more 'staying power' than disco.

Then again the Bee Gees were pretty damned coo. back in the day.

I thought the whole scene died around 2002. Seriously, has there been any innovation in the genre in five years? When I turn on di.fm music most of their sounds come from the 97-02 boom days and very little since.

Todays trance is mostly shit. That melodic/epic crap is a cancer on electronic music. There are still some real trance artists, though, but that has ALREADY gone the way of disco, I think.

But no, that "epic" crap is still hip with idiot clubbers and such.

http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/ Oldie but shows the evolution of it all. I think Sean Tyas may have something going on. It's slowly moving into a new sort of experimental thing (Rank 1's newest definitely reminds me of BT's stuff, they must've been influenced by it).

It's still HUGE across the world, I've been to the ones where fireworks are put in the rain sharing the scene with thousands of people. http://youtube.com/watch?v=SaPcceI512k
I don't particularly care for that song. I think it just has to go for what kind of trance you like, there's just too many types of trance within the genre already.

One of my favorite house DJ's is Terrence Parker.

Check out some highlights in the first video on this page:

http://www.terrenceparker.net/video.html

My favorite part starts at about 5:30 and runs thru 7:30 or so.

We actually booked him once for a really small and intimate private party at a restaurant in Los Angeles. It was awesome. I don't think I've ever sweat so much from dancing.
