Is trading a CDRW 8x4x32x for a 10x-16x DVD a fair trade?

Title says it all. Would I be able to trade a NEW cdrw for a new/used 16x dvd?

A new 8x CD-RW would be worth more than a new 12X DVD. Especially if it is made by Plextor.

Such technologies as Burn Proof and Justlink can also have an effect on value, you can get DVD-ROM's pretty cheap nowadays while CD-RW's are still more costly.
