Is trackpad on mid-2011 Macbook Pro supposed to physically (left) click?

Just sold a mid-2011 Macbook Pro that my sister bought new from Microcenter and used for a few years till she upgraded to Macbook Air.

Buyer just received laptop and says his friend says his Macbook Pro has physical left click on trackpad (I believe press down on lower left part of track pad and get tactile click in addition to os acknowledging click).

This laptop never had that and I always assumed that was normal and way Apple intended it to be (tap to click, not physically depress area like if Macbook Pro had physical left and right trackpad buttons).

What is the way Apple designed that trackpad?

With the all-glass trackpads, it is hinged at the top, and if you press in towards the bottom, it will physically click.

By default, the click is registered as a 'left' click, but you can enable it such that if you click in the bottom right area, it will register as a 'right' click.

If it didn't have a physical click, it was defective. This has been a problem on a minority of units, but would have been covered under warranty.
