I just lovvvvvve eating jerky, everytime i get a bag i keep eating it till its gone, is there any downside to eating too much? I know theyre somewhat high in sodium, anything else??

i can't see anything too wrong with it. it is a little fattening but if you're not watching your weight then who cares.

Actually not that true, most beef jerky is surprising low in fat. Especially in comparison to other snack foods.

Well, depending upon your age, and the type of jerky, this may or may not concern you. Most jerky and sausages have salt peter as an ingredient. Salt peter in and of itself is not "bad" persay, but, lets just say that the military used to give soldiers salt peter when arriving in foreign ports to help curb their "sexual function"!😉 To put it plainly, salt peter tends to "leave you limp" and the more you consume, the greater the effect.

too much supermarket-bought jerky is probably bad b/c of the preservatives. i did know this one kid who used to make his own beef jerky, so that might be a different story...

I can't say for sure, but I doubt it's really terribly great for you in large quantities.

My uncle gets deer jerky made whenever he goes hunting and kills a deer. That's some good stuff. No preservatives at all. Have to keep it in the freezer until you want to eat it.

I love having beef jerky in the middle of a long mountain bike ride. Beats a powerbar any day of the week!

You may OD on Air. Hell, mayeb water. That would be bad! Bad DiHydrogen MonoOxide!

If you drink enough water, the extra sodium really isn't bad for you. You just have to drink tons of water.

I used to make my own jerky... it was a lot of fun, and my jerky was better than anything I could get at a store.
