Black & White toner is toxic
Color toner - a trade secret
Most manufacturers guard their ?recepie? of B&W toner as a trade secret. However, the public has some information on the content.
The most dominant substance in toner is C.I. Pigment Black 6 or 7, which irritates the skin and eyes and is known to cause mutations.
But toner also includes more hazardous chemicals, typically substanses such as
* Cetylpyridinchloride
* Zinchydrabenzophat
* Pigment Red 48 Barum Salt
* CAS-nr. 102561-46-6
* CAS-nr. 116810-46-9
* CAS-nr. 1223312-54-9
All these chemicals are listed as hazardous and toxic, especially polluting the water supplies, some substances are known to be the cause of cancer or to cause mutations.
The production of toner is so polluting and poisonous, that the major bulk of the production has been "exported" to countries such as India or Peoples Republic of China.
