Is today 6700 release day?

Perhaps, but what you wrote goes completely against the vast majority of rumors out there for hard launches, and AMD hard-launched Cypress last year with worse 40nm availability than this year. Thus I see no basis for what you wrote. NV seems to agree with the rumors, because according to HardOCP, GTX 460-1GB and GTX 470 will get price cuts in a few days.

Also I'm not sure how one could logically come to the conclusion that AMD would have something to gain by doing a paper-launch versus staging their launch-time to coincide with whenever inventory on hand becomes appreciable.

Its not like there is a ton of investor expectation surrounding the release (unlike the case with Fermi) or that the product SKUs being replaced (5850/5870) by Barts are lagging in their own rights relative to the competition.

In fact I'm compelled to believe quite the opposite must be true, the last thing AMD wants is a paper-launch because that will simply cause a drop in revenue as Cypress sales start to dry-up prematurely in anticipation of Bart SKUs becoming available "any day now". What business wants that if they can avoid it?
