My girlfriend had yesterday and today off, I guess I just assumed Monday was veterans day and Tuesday was a teacher inservice day or something.

This is a scary thread if people can't remember that Veteran's Day is 11/11. It used to be called Armistice Day. The Armistice that ended WWI was signed at the "11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month."

im in college also. we have class today and we had class on labor day also

OUR CLASSES STARTED ON LABOR DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! i had 4 of them

I only realized now that some people didn't know that today was the end of WWI

it's a pretty big deal over here with all sorts of remembrance parades for all the fallen soldiers

it's also a national day off for everyone

You got days off in college? Our time off essentially amounted to 2 days. This is what we got:

May - August : Summer break (~3 months in the summer, unless you took classes then)
Labor Day (1 day)
Fall Break (1 week during Thanksgiving)
Winter break (1 month during the holidays)
Martin Luther King Jr Day (1 day)
Spring break ( 1 week)

Excluding Seasonal "breaks" we got 1 day off a semester. Both semesters were basically the same; One 3 day weekend early on to ease you back in to school, and one week off a month before finals so you didn't burn out.

I'm at work as we speak.
The kids are home from school though and banks and government offices are closed.
There is a parade here today also.
The small town of 5000 people where I live puts out about 100 flags along the 3 block stretch of downtown on Veteran's day, 4th of July, and some other holidays. I just found out that every one of these flags is a casket flag that was donated by the family members of men who were killed in combat. I guess Eagle Point had a lot of people serving in WW2 and Vietnam.

fall pause 3 days in OCT
thanksgiving 5 days
Xmass - about a month
spring break
10 days

thats it we HAVE CLASS on labor day, MLK day,.. any other day when other stuff is closed we have class
fusk last year during that blizzard was teh first time out college "officially cancled class" in that past 50 years
