4 under for the round with 7 holes to go, 10 under overall, leading by 4 and just about everyone else is in the clubhouse

St. Andrew's is his favourite course. That sucks for the rest of the field. :D

Personally, I think this is his tribute to Jack.

it's sad to see him getting older and not being able to play anymore due to his physical condition. he truly is a legend.

on a side note, i just ordered a new driver :D. should be here in time for my round next weekend!

I agree whole-heartedly. No one will ever touch Nicklaus in my book! And I do like Tiger quite a bit. Safe to say, one legend and one legend-to-be, perhaps.

What type of driver? :D Don't you love new golf equipment?! It makes your next round pretty exciting!

i agree with your comments as well :)

i did some research and ended up at http://www.freegolfinfo.com and ended up looking in their forums. i went with a custom driver actually and placed my order this morning. it's not fancy smancy brands by any means. i got the following:

BANG Big Bang 450 @ 10.5* loft in LH
SK Fiber Pure Energy Regular Flex shaft in blue/silver color
Lamkin Dual Density Crossline grip

Total it only cost me about $110 which is not bad at all. people on those forums on that site really know their stuff, and the head i got is getting nothing but rave reviews. i can't wait to test it out!

I think when all is said and done, Jack & Tiger will be up on the pedestal as peers. No one else has come close, and Tiger has the potential. I've been leaving voice mails on my buddy's cell phone (who went to Britain for the Open), in the vain hope he calls me from there. I told him in the last one that he's getting a 3-iron to the knee if he doesn't bring me something spiff back from the merchandise tent!

Sweet driver purbeast0 ... I've read about it too. The shaft looks good, though I favour a stiff flex. Like to see another lefty though!

I never got into these custom things until i went to these forums. this is my first custom club. i was looking at the nike ignite driver, the 460, and i tested it out at the range. i could crush it pretty well, but that thing is still $300 retail, can find them for like $200 LH.

so i went w/this custom thing and it was only $100 or so, and i think i'll be happy with it due to the positive feedback it gets.

my speed swing is 90-95, so i'm not quite quick enough of a swinger to get a stiff flex. i tried hitting the nike in both regular and stiff, and stiff was a little tough for me.

I think he can ... should birdie 18 at the very least. Wish I were home watching ... or there!

I can handle the cold and wet ... it is convincing my wife that is what we should do for holidays that is a bit of a stretch. ;)

That's a sweet round of golf ... again. There were a lot of good rounds today out there. Sets up the weekend for a great leaderboard.

Really too bad about Jack not making the cut ... but it shows he really should be retiring. That bum hip really took him down the last several years. Still +3 in two rounds of an Open championship, doesn't every golfer just wish they could do that once?

Finishing with birdie was a fitting touch. :)

I noticed on pgatour.com that David Toms was disqualified. Anyone with more info about that?

He DQ'd himself b/c he putted a ball that was still moving on a two-putt, although he was the only one who saw it. Was probably playing crappy, either that or hes too honorable for his own good.

He is mild-mannered ... but remember the middle-finger incident earlier this year? Pure gold. He called the DQ on himself, just to make sure no one else did so. With people phoning in rules violations, would you rather call yourself on something, or let Joe Blow rant and rave over the phone about your play. You know there are hardcore golf-nerds who sit with their rule books clutched in their sweaty palms just looking for violations to call in.

Toms is one of my favourite players ... if only because I could regularly outdrive him! His iron play is generally f'in brilliant. I had him in my pool to contend. Whoops
