Viper is correct.
Ryan either didn't read the above posts, or is just clueless.

I don't know Ebay's policy though. But I do know that there are tons of tickets on sale at ebay for far over face value with nothing else included in the deal. I was looking for tickets for the Oregon v Michigan football game a couple months ago and they were going for 500 or more on ebay.

I know that in Eugene, OR scalping is illegal. But it is really only enforced right around the stadium.

I posted a link to eBay's policy on tickets up above.

Could you set a "Buy It Now" for face value and charge an exhorbitant amount of money for shipping to get around the rules? Just curious.

Alot of these auctions are for something like a personalized envelope that just happens to contain tickets to some event.

it should all depend on what the reserve for the item is... if the reserve is set at 50 bucks for a 50 dollar ticket and someone happens to pay 500 bucks for it that's their own fault :p

I've sold tickets twice on ebay. Once to the Ozzfest where I barely made my money back. My friends backed out at the last minute so I had to get rid of them. Then again for Marilyn Manson. Those tickets I made about $100 bucks on the tickets. No problems at all.

Oh, and I'm in California.

it is illegal, but they don't really enforce it. after all, it's in their best interests to let people sell them for more because then they make more money.

In that regard, I have seen packer tickets go for 10X their value on Ebay also.

Oh here's a good one I seen the other day was looking for an Ipod and this guy was advertizing a 20 gig Ipod for sale w/2500 songs that go along with it LOL

As stated SEVERAL times already, It's only illegal in certain states (and not even that many, really).

Ebay only limits scalping for those locations where the law does not allow it.See the f-ing link that Conjur already posted.

Scalping is only illegal in certain localities in the US. Here's an example. Scalping is legal in all of Oregon, but the city of Portland doesn't allow ticket brokers (professional ticket scalpers for lack of a better word). So when I really need those Blazer tickets (not this year! :p), I call my ticket broker in Beaverton, the next city to the west.

Can you stop posting now?

i've sold on ebay once before. there's a complicated process of finding out how much you can resell them for based on, 1) where the concert is 2) where the seller lives 3) where the buyer lives. check out the page conjur posted and you'll find out what the deal is for your situation.

Still against ebay's rules.
