Is this worth fixing on car?

My clutch pedal squeeks. Apparently to repair this (which doesn't really annoy me much) I need a new clutch pedal assembly. That sounds expensive. Without one it will "eventually wear out". It's done it for about 4 months (4000 miles). Should I bother?

GREASE


Find the pivots that are squeaking and grease them suckers!!

What you need is lubrication. Not WD-40 or any other light stuff. White Lithium Grease. The nylon bushing in the pedal arm has dried out.

That's what I thought but I couldn't personally find where to grease it - I told them I thought that some grease would do it; why can't they just do that...? I suppose I'll ask. I've decided no way amd I paying labor and parts for this.

I have to get some leak from the rear of the car fixed and a transmission leak anyway so I think this can wait 🙂

seriously, jsut grease it up. Get your head under the dash and push on the clutch, see where it squeaks, grease every joint you can find.

I tried that but I couldn't see where to put it. It's kind of hard to explain the workings of the clutch in there but I'm going to tell them to do just that because I ain't paying for replacement.

It's a 93 sentra worth not much more than $2k. Since I have a seal leak somewhere and tranny leak I don't want to pay for this on it. Seems silly to kill off a squeek on a car worth so little and pay a lot to do so.

While I'm at it for the transmission leak if it's a pricey fix but not leaking fast i just plan on topping up the tranny fluid whenever necessary. Is there anything wrong with this?

No. Just don't OVERFILL it. Your tranny is way particular about the fluid level. And for God's sake do not put that "tranny sealer" in it.

Seriously, unless it is really bothering you, just try the grease suggestion. Don't forget regular maintanance, keeping fluid levels up AND start saving for that next car.

Hehe. Actually I don't hear it much anymore cause the stereo is always on loud when I drive. I just didn't want it wearing out but paying much to avoid this possibility was never in my mind. I hope the "rear leak" that they didn't specify yet doesn't kill me or the tranny leak but I can top that bad boy up for a while if they want to screw me on repairs!

I'm thinking of dropping vaseline in with the transmission fluid too...
