I hear in some other forums and comments from people and players that the 8.2 is faster than the 8.3 some people claim having a 3000 point or even 4000 points reduction on 3d mark with this drivers... and i mean catalyst drivers ok...

My framerate in games (especially crysis) improved with 8.3 over 8.2. I haven't run 3dmark since I installed 8.3 though.

11k sounds a little low for a quad core and two 3870s though. I got around 9k with a single 3870 and a slow dual core with the 7.12s

3DMark has a problem with "linked video cards = false" AFAIK, when it does not recognize a new driver. So your only probably getting the score of a single 3870 with the 8.3's.

I was getting 13900 with 2 3870's and about 9700 with one on 8.1 and 8.2, both of which weren't on the approved list when I tested. Dropped to 10600 with two cards on 8.3. Haven't tested with the 8.3 hotfix drivers but games run better and I know pretty much all I need to with 3DMark06.

I don't see much difference between the two, 3dmark06 is around 11k with both, 8.2 was about 70 points higher.

8.3 seems to work better on AGP cards when compared with earlier versions (usually we had to rely on HotFixes after a certain driver number in the 7.x range, not a problem anymore).

8.3 has more changes to CCC and supports CrossfireX better
.. pretty similar otherwise .. i might have "lost" a few 3D marks :p

8.6 or 8.7 is the one i am looking for [r700]

My impression from forums is that 3DMock scores may have dropped while actual game performance has improved.

Hrmm, I scored 11004k with my 9600BE @ 2.4Ghz and my single 3870 at 830/1200. Your scores should be much higher. I'm running 8.3 with the latest hotfix.

sounds like phenoms are scoring so low...

the CPU score is below the those intel ones.. and therefore they slow down the sm2 and 3

i also think here Vista 64 might favor the AMD CPU .. i'd run it with a Phenom over Vista 32. I think intel CPUs don't execute all the code as efficiently .. i don't know why amd doesn't make a big deal about it. Maybe they should send me a CPU and AMD MB and i'll compare Vista 32 vs 64 again :p
Nullponterus got much closer scores between Vista 32 and 64 with his phenom than i did with my C2D - didn't he switch his cpu out? or am i mistaken again ?

I've seen in many sites that the gaming performance of the Phenom is usually as fast or slighly faster than the Q6600 at stock speed, of course the Q6600 overclocks better, hence, better gaming performance..

my phenom stock speed is 2200... if i try to overclock more i need to turn down the memory a bit or it will also overclock and hang...

i reduce the memory from 800 to 667 and then start overclocking up to 2400.. which makes the memory around 740 or something

is like.. faster processor with slower memory....

more overclock usually makes the windows start complaining with the boot.

not to mention that better catalyst is needed lol.

edit - i am looking it up .. nope he has a e4400 [he was thinking of it :p]
curses, foiled again
-there goes my theory shot to hell

but i'd still welcome a Phenom .. at least
:D
