Good thing progressives are jumping in with their own personal charitable contributions and not relying on the government to help them. Because that's the hallmark of caring, is expecting someone else to do things for you and have it paid by someone else.

Food stamps are just the alternative to money earned from jobs. In some places, I suspect, they're the only reason business can stay open so that people can live there with any quality of life at all. Commerce can easily collapse on itself below a certain threshold.

It's just the way the job creators want it, anyway. Instead of cutting into profits by providing more jobs at higher wages so we wouldn't need food stamps, they do better hogging the money & loaning it to the govt to provide food stamps. They also establish a pander point for self righteous fools to swoon over.

There is absolutely no shortage of food in this country, so there's little point in following an ideology that seeks to ration it to suit some twisted sense of holier than thou- what they can somehow call morality. It's actually pretty shameful.

Pay taxes to support food stamps? I'm glad to do it. Beats the shit out of spending it on ordnance to blow up even less fortunate people in other parts of the world. Beats the shit out of supporting the largest prison population in the world & a lot of other stuff, as well.

Yeh, I know, in Jamestown, everybody had to work so that everybody could eat. Today, not everybody is allowed to work because it'd cause overproduction & nobody would make any money. Things change. Self righteous headsets never do, unfortunately.

Not only are there more white people on food stamps proportional speaking white vs white compared to black vs black, the majority of those white people on government assistance are in fact mainly white senior citizens.
Those white senior citizen as well as white American veterans better known to republicans as the "takers", far out number all of the total black community receiving assistance.

Unlike many black youth collecting stamps and public assistance, seniors and disabled Vets can not change their situation.
Seniors collecting social security qualify for assistance, more often than not.

No rocket science needed here. Do the simple math.

Cutting assistance and food stamps is not hurting the black community any wheres near the hurt caused for white retired senior citizens and disabled American Vets.
And again, the cruel part, a senior in their 80's or 90's cannot reenter the workforce to improve their living conditions. They are helpless and fully dependent on the good will of the congress.

So when you hear Mitt Romney talking about the "takers", or any republican for that matter, think of your own parents trying to survive off social security.

Bottom line, republican ideology can be pure evil, where they enjoy demonizing minorities, and push this idea that the "takers" are all lazy employable minorities.
Where in reality they are instead hurting our most vulnerable of society.
But, that's how they are....
The right-ies, the religious faith based, the so called self proclaimed moral of us all.

The entire progressive movement is a collection action problem. For once how about you guys open your wallets proactively and don't wait until after you can legislatively force everyone else to first.
