Is this true about acceptance to masters programs?

I heard the GPA on your last 2 years of undergrad are far more important than you first 2 years. Is this true? I am asking because my first 2 years is 2.9, last 2 years 3.8. Thanks.

Probably.
Hell, in the UK at many universities they ignore your first year and base everything on your last 2/3 years.

Every university is different but most will care more about you slacking off your last two years than your first two years of your undergrad.

same with getting into college (undergrad). College likes to see improvement. So yeah, last 2 years > first two years. Be sure to point that out.

When I applied (to a doctoral program, not master's, but I'd think they are similar in many ways), almost every school would ask for:

1) Overall GPA
2) Major GPA
3) GPA for your last XX number of credit hours (usually equivalent to roughly your final four semesters)

I'm not exactly sure how much they weighted each factor, but as others have mentioned, I'd imagine that showing improvement counts for quite a bit.
