IS this too much to ask?

For a wireless network that actually works? I'll be moved out of this apartment before this damn thing works right!

D-Link DI-614+ router using D-Link DWL-120+ usb adapters.

NO programs work right. The moment I thought I had everything worked out in this network everything goes downhill. COnnection dropouts, AOL disconnections... etc. WHat can I do to correct these disconnections? AOLIM is my main concern.

Now, I moved the router into the room with my main PC and hard wired it to the router to avoid connection loss and low and behold, it wont even connect to the internet now! I can't even access the router.

Any thoughts?

Anyone?

Are you using dhcp? Can you ping the router? is your cable between the router and your pc good? Can you still use the internet with the wireless one(even if its off and on)?

DHCP is disabled. I configured the onboard LAN device with the same IP and settings as it did when it was wireless. DOnt worry I deleted the wireless connection first so there is no conflict.

Yes, if the USB adapter is in I still can connect to the internet

I enabled the DHCP server and it assigned my computer an IP address and the router software tells me that a computer is connected to one of the LAN ports and the cable is good. SO I am assuming that the router knows that my computer is hard wired to it.

NOw how do I get the damn thing to connect to the net?

MY other PC and my laptop are connected wirelessly and are surfing the net fine.

EDIT: I cant ping the router or any other computer, operation times out.

do you have the correct DNS servers? make sure that the routers ip and subnet are in the same range that the PC's is also.

there are no words to describe the frustration I feel right now.

DNS servers are correct, all TCP/IP settings are correct.

THe damn thing just wont connect to the net.

It's gotta be a setting within windows XP. I ran the setup small office or home network thing like 50 times, bridged the connection did everything I could think of and nothing.

If I reinstall the wireless adapter the internet just pops up without fooling with anything. GRRRRRR.....

You get an IP using DHCP, but you can't ping the router (which I am assuming is the DHPC device as well)? Does the IP you receive from the router start with 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x?

I thought you said it was a wireless connection? Last time I checked the onboard nics of the Nforce2 are not wireless. Am I missing something?
