The computer repair people at my old university had one of these, they've been around for a while now.

I have seen these things advertised to copy HD to another one, however, the repair thing seems suspicious. I mean, wtf could it actually it to "repair" it?

like, corrupted sectors and stuff - it could do some stuiff to repair a hard drive, but not a dying one with the click of death, of course.

there are a couple of them in this shop here at work, they are ten station models

yeah they work, how else could you efficiently image hundreds of hard drives in a reasonable time period?

when they are replacing the hard drive, it is faster/easier to image it first, especially when the box is going into the warehouse, not a cubicle/onto the network

i've seen them advertised for a while, but never as low as $299...

/edit...i'd LOVE to have one too, especially if it can copy/clone drives of different sizes. :)
