I'll never draft a giant or saint RB ever again until very late Too much burn.

Those two teams no matter what the talent can't be trusted for touches at RB.

Saints WRs and RBs are horrible to draft outside of a PPR for the RBs and then you guess between Sproles or Thomas.

The Giants have just been awful this year. Maybe they can do better next year if they upgrade their offensive line.

Well, for anyone still holding onto David Wilson (like me in a couple leagues..) He's likely to go to IR today. I'll drop him after the confirmation.

I dropped him week 6 or 7 I think. I kept holding on hoping something would turn around. That REALLY hurt my team this year. Having your #2 draft pick be essentially worthless the entire season kills. He was supposed to be such a stud, turned out to be the biggest dud of the season.

I think I learned a lesson is make sure you take PROVEN, reliable players early in the draft and dismiss the hype. You can always pick up hype/flier off the waiver wire.

Yeah I dropped him a few weeks ago. I think to pick up Stacy. Well worthwhile, but I totally agree, it screwed me early in the season. I thought it was ok to go a bit risky with Wilson at 22 since I already had Charles with my first pick. Never thought he would be that bad of a bust though. Yikes.

Eh. No such thing. Except *maybe* in QB's. But even then who knows(Rodgers going down, Brady's first half, ect). Doug Martin was supposed to have uncontested carries, a good OLine and a halfway competent QB/receiving corp. He was horrible.

Lesean McCoy started out hot and then rapidly fizzled. Same with Vick. Ray Rice has been a dud and he was a "proven" commodity last year. He's hit the wall. Arian foster has had a few good games and a bunch of crap. Spiller the same. How about Stephen Jackson and Matt Bryant? Julio? Roddy?

It's a game of 70% pure total luck on a weekly basis. The remaining 30% is drafting well and being a waiver wire boss.

The running backs have been really weird this year. Normally the top 10 guys you can consistently rely on and no brainer start them. Outside of the top 3 this year the rest can change any week and the top 12 draft picks, only 3 or 4 are living up to their ranking.

So you're right, this year you weren't going to get the somewhat guaranteed performance you should out of the proven backs.

Speaking of waiver boss, I have been one this year but that means I only have 14 bucks left. I started off really slow and used a bunch of money to grab guys like Keenan Allen, Zac Stacey, Terrance Williams, Jordan Reed by over bidding folks. I would have put down 30-40 bucks out of 100 for Nick Foles (who I dropped after his stinker a few weeks ago and vick back).

I put a bid of 6 bucks for Foles out of desperation. The winning bid was, get this, ONLY 7 BUCKS! Somebody got him for 7 bucks out of a 100 budget.

Proven and reliable like Ray Rice?

Looking back at the draft and the top WRs were really the most reliable.

In the main 12 team league here, the first round was:

1 Adrian Peterson, Min
2 Doug Martin, TB RB
3 Jamaal Charles, KC RB
4 Trent Richardson, Ind RB
5 C.J. Spiller, Buf RB
6 Marshawn Lynch, Sea RB
7 Arian Foster, Hou RB
8 Ray Rice, Bal RB
9 Calvin Johnson, Det WR
10 LeSean McCoy, Phi RB
11 A.J. Green, Cin WR
12 Maurice Jones-Drew, Jac RB

I mean after Charles, you could argue for Calvin to be the 2nd pick and Green to not be far behind there!

Well I'm sure u can use a lot of people as examples but I'll take a couple of people. Rodgers getting hurt completely random. Brady being horrible, we all saw the potential of this happening when u loose all ur people u had chem with.

Arian foster, he always seems to get hurt lately. Nothing new. S jax hit that magic 30number that turner hit last year. I knew not to draft him. Roddy and Julio well that was random. Spiller I'm sure 60% people knew he was a bust that high.

I knew Charles was going to be gold. Never expected him to be possibly the best ppr back out there. I was debating between him or McCoy. I was super happy I didn't get top pick.

But I do agree fantasy is at least 50% luck. 30% wavier. Think about those who collected on the Denver TE week 1. Or the cleveland TE later down. Me grabbing Jordan reed. I drafted zac Stacy and dropped him and picked him back up. I saw something in him. Monte ball was a bust for me tho.

Everything is random. I've seen great drafted teams die off and miss the playoffs.

Hey at least Wilson can be dropped, at least he isnt Trent Richardson. A worthless turd taking up bench space, getting me between 1-5 points per week and always being borderline startable due to bye weeks, injuries, and other fiascos.

I'd argue he's droppable, or could be packaged in a trade and let somebody else deal with him. Unless you literally have no other options for bye week fillins. You could grab Peyton Hillis if he's available as he'll be the starting back this week. Ben Tate could merit a look but he's banged up as well.

I so want to be able to drop Joique Bell but I just can't do it.

So I was reading something on the running back situation this year. The number of busts seems unusually high but the numbers are pretty similar to 2012.

2012:
Top 10 ADP RBs: finished 4 in the top 10 and 6 in the top 20.
Top 11-20 ADP RBs: finished 4 in top 10 and 6 in the top 20.

So Far in 2013:
Top 10 ADP RBs: 4 in the top 10 and 6 in the top 20
Top 11-20 ADP RBs: 3 in the top 10 and 7 in the top 20.

A couple things are going on, first is that Running Backs flew off the board early this year. Going by 10 team leagues In 2011 and 2012 the 11th drafted RB was on the board in the middle of the 3rd round while this year in was the middle of the second round.

To compound things another contributing factor is the fact that many of the busts in 2011 and 2012 came due to injuries. You would just find a replacement RB to fill in for the games they missed. This year you have been starting the big 4 busts (Rice, Spiller, Mart, T-Rich) hoping for big games to only get little.

Thought this was funny :) :

The Giants aren’t expecting miracles from Brown, or are they?

“Forty carries and 15 receptions, run the kickoff back,’’ coach Tom Coughlin said of his expectations in Brown’s 2013 debut. “What else would you like?’’

When told of the expectations from his head coach, Brown’s eyes widened.
“Then you might as well go ahead and put a tombstone up with ‘RIP’ on it,’’ Brown said.

Nice analysis. It's not that they got hurt. Just not producing.

I mean really ray rice? Really?

C'mon man!

The top dogs in our league loaded up on top receivers. Good for him but damn he's hard to beat.

In my keeper league, someone just accepted a trade:

Alfred Morris + Round 8 pick for Mathews + Round 6 pick

This is a crap trade where the commissioner is getting Morris. He just traded his first round pick next year for Lynch which was more legit than this one. If this trade goes through, I think I am out and I am in first place.

Here is the league.

My gf FINALLY dropped Ray Rice last night. I'm proud of her.

A lot of the fantasy shows I listen to actually are talking about how rice is a good buy low candidate or steal from other owners because of schedule during fantasy playoffs and he's getting healthy. Why don't you go pick him up?

I dropped Ray Rice for Shane Vereen in the only league I had him. I was not very high on him at the start of the season and only reason I had him was through an auto-draft. I was trying to trade him for Alfred Morris before the season started.

I did not think he would be this bad but with the combination of the Ravens O-Line & Offense issues along with his physical decline I don't expect him to turn it around.

Which team is yours? Just browsing I saw one team had Drew Brees & Peyton Manning o_O

That team needs to trade one of them

I entertained the thought, but even with a good schedule coming up, I just don't feel good about Rice. If I were to pick him up, I'd have trouble starting him over Moreno, Bush, Stacy or Murray. Even if Rice has a great week on my bench, he'd probably just stink up the place the following week.

What I am hoping for is someone else in the league sees Rice and picks him up. In an 8 team league there's a good chance they'd be dropping someone I might want to pick up. *Crosses fingers*

Agreed. They could stand to strengthen their RB or TE position by trading one of those QB's.

Team "derp" looks strong.

I agree. Very solid WR and RB core, I am very high on Alshon Jeffery for the rest of season. Not a huge fan of Rashad Jennings but the team has him as a flex.

DERP is my team. I get to pick three keepers (Stafford, Lacy and someone else). I am thinking about dumping someone for a draft pick, but my team is solid at this point.

That is the league manager and wanted to change it to a two QB league but it got shot down. If it had been a two QB league, the draft would have gone different.

The guy with Manning and Brees got Lynch last week and is robbing the other guy of Morris.

Jennings is a fill in for Ridley and I may bench him for someone else.
