Well for the past 3 or 4 months, I've been getting the SMART-1720 warning that tells you the HD will die soon. So today, my comp gave me the blue screen of death(but it wus a wierd one, writing all over, and it wus the first time ever I got it). So it shut off, now when I turn it on, the fans won't spin, but the main screen still comes up. Is it time to buy a new one or can it be saved?

If the fans dont spin, that shouldn't have anything to do with a failed HDD. Does the computer boot at all? Assuming the HDD failed, it would boot just fine and either pop an error up at the end of the boot cycle or give you a message that 'no boot disk was found', for example.

More information of the symptoms will need to be provided before I can hazard a guess as to what is possibly wrong.

What do you mean the fans don't spin? If your CPU cooler went south, that will not affect the hard disk (at least not directly). Try booting to the bios screen, and disabling SMART. If Windows loads, turn off your machine and buy a new hard disk. Install Windows on that, and transfer all your data from the old one.

Yes it loads, to that screen exactly. With the 'no boot disk was found', for example. The fans(I have two) just stopped spinning when I load up the comp 🙁.
