Is this the cheapest place to buy Windows 7 for my PC build?

Hmmm.... that link says 75 right now.

That's as cheap as I've seen it recently. I think normal price is closer to 100. Newegg had it the other day for 100 less 20 coupon.

You can futz around and maybe save a few bucks, but you have to weigh that against the possibility of getting ripped off outright or not getting exactly the type of license you thought you were getting. I'd be reluctant to go with something like Ebay.

COA's go for about $30 on ebay, but there the ratio is usually 9 counterfeit auction listings to every 1 genuine coa.

That listing is fulfilled by Amazon, chances are high it will be a genuine COA.

Fulfilled by Amazon is good. You might be able to go to r/software swap though and grab a sketchy OEM key for $30

Anywhere I can get it cheaper? I'd like to order it in the next couple of days. I heard you can buy from people on reddit and on Hardforum, but I'm skeptical.

Any advice would be really helpful. Cheers.

I've purchased codes from (H)ard for both W7 Pro ($40) & W8.1 Pro ($65) neveranottaproblemo....and I'm typing this on the W8.1 machine....download the ISO's from M$, burn to disc and activate with the code...eazy peazy.... I would stay away from ebay on this though...

YMMV though, depending on who you get them from.....so as with anything bought online, check the feedback/heatware etc of the person selling them and discuss it them via PM before making a purchase.... Both people I got the codes from offered money-back guarentees or a new code if the 1st one did not work for any reason.....

I would stay far, far away from ebay on this though...

I've never seen it less than $79 from a legitimate source, I think that's pretty good for a 100% legit copy. I wouldn't trust eBay as far as I could throw it for something like an OS license.

Counterfeit coa's and their codes still work, because Microsoft's general policy is to assume the end user is innocent, they allow the same key to activate many times. I'm saying this because, whenever you talk to someone who will offer replacement codes, you're not being sold a unique code, he has sold that code to someone else as well.

So...Your saying anyone that owns a computer business and buys bulk licenses from Microsoft is a crook? Hmm?
You HAVE NO idea what your talking about Cubby.
Unfortunately Microsoft has tightened their policies regarding bulk licenses with Windows 8/8.1 to where it has priced the small guy out of the picture.
Used to be able to purchase 10 Windows 7 licenses at a time at a discounted price, however now I believe it is 35 or 50 minimum.

Yep, here is the official Digital River ISO image downloads for Windows 7:

I saved this link in my favorites. Today, it comes in at $59.99. I chatted with a representative some time ago. Its Win 7 Pro and it comes on a disc. At the time I checked out the vendor at resellerratings and they came in as legit. I'm reading this from another computer screen now. Look up Software Supply Source, their phone is 1-877-270-0626. Look them up and go for it. Check out the vendor. I did and all appeared kosher. Keep me informed. Good luck. I've got to move to Win 7 soon, with some XP machines.

Linked for the lazy:

Unfortunately the Digital River links for win7 isos are now dead. Cant find the source,at the moment, but it appears that MS killed them at the start of Feb 2015, but as looking for these for another post and all the link that point to digital river are dead

Oh that is a bummer! However there is still the link from Microsoft here:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery

Just more hoops to jump through to get the ISO image. :\

Last year Microsoft killed all the Office 2010 links on Digital River, then they reappeared on servers under the windows.net url. Hoping MS is doing the same here, and the downloads will be available again.

I think that software-recovery URL asks you for your Product Key and won't work for you UNLESS you enter the key from a RETAIL version. If you have an OEM PC with a COA sticker that has a Product Key, it fails if you enter that key.

MS is obviously making it difficult. The last I looked, ISOs for certain Windows 7 versions were still available at Digital River and I think you can use an editing workaround to install and activate those ISOs even if your Product Key is for a different version. That is---you could download an Ultimate or Professional ISO, do the editing, and activate with your Home Premium Key.
