Is this the best landscape picture ever?

It is a nice landscape but the picture itself could be better, imo. The turquoise water is a bit much, and the sky is overdone as well. The lighting/time of day could stand to be more dramatic as well.
to me, it looks horrendously doctored... as if the clouds, the water, and the foreground trees were cut-and-pasted in

I have memories of the Rockies that I think are better, but no pics. It's a great pic in the OP, that water color is nuts.

That looks like Peyto lake. Its not even the most beautiful landscape in the Canadian Rockies. I'd say that there are more than a few views in Lake O'Hara that take the cake.

My dad is a huge traveling buff, especially to national parks and stuff (he has a phd in geology so he especially likes yosemite type places). We went to Banff when I was 10. Awesome place. Got to ride these big monster tractors onto the mountain. heh.

EDIT: That being said Jiuzhaigou Valley, China is even more beautiful. Just a bit hard to get to. But almost no environmental damage/pollution as a result.

The Athabasca Glacier? I remember riding those huge tractors on to a glacier and walking around. Banff and Jasper are two of the places I sorely hope to get back to someday.

Pic of Athabasca I took.

Yeah, it has to do with the mix of minerals that come from higher grounds. This isn't a crystal clear see to the bottom type of a nice blue. From this far away it makes it look murky with blue. Not too attractive to the eye actually.

Banff is nice, but too many people. Jasper is wayyy nicer, same area, but about 200 km north.

that's what i thought, too, but it looks pretty close to the one that Excelsior took and posted above... funkiness and all.

Before I even saw the picture I knew that it was going to be Banff. Very iconic of the best that Canada has to offer. Banff is definitely one of those places that everyone has to go see at least once in their life.

And yes, the water really is that blue. Like others have mentioned, there are very fine mineral particles in the water that make it look blue. It is inadvisable to drink the water though, as the minerals act as a laxative.

Here are a couple of mine from an Alberta trip in 2006. We stayed in Banff for 4 days, drove to Jasper for a night, then on to Edmonton for an Oilers game and back to Calgary for our flight home.

These are unedited pics from my Sony point & shoot cam (I'm not a photographer by any stretch). As you can see the water is very turquoise-coloured and extremely beautiful!

Bow River just outside of Banff, near the Banff Springs golf course

Not beautiful, but a funny one from that trip:

edit: OMG please don't judge my pics i was just adding to the thread. the one in the OP is amazing

Ah, how I wish I could see them. Unfortunately I've never been able to get to bbzzdd.
