Is this temp. too high??

My wife's computer has been locking up recently and I have found no reason why. I have looked at the BIOS for overtemp settings and found the protection enabled so, I'm thinking maybe that's it. I can't find the settings that say at what temp it trips the protection (my board is a SOYO with a DURON 1Ghz). The BIOS is reporting my CPU temp to be 107 degrees. I have a good heat sink w/compound and a fan. I do not have any case fans yet.

Does this temp sound normal and will the case fans help cool further?

Thanks

that's about 42 C i belive (no calculator nearby)..... that's absolutely fine... considering i don't think you're wife stress's the cpu much with word processing and web surfing....

sounds like lock ups are being caused by other things

Does your motheboard report case temperature as well? If so and the case temp is more than 10 degrees F above room temp, then I would add a case fan. Otherwise the CPU temp is well within limits and is probably not causing the lockups. I would suspect the memory before the CPU. If you have more than one stick, remove one and see if the problem persists. If it does switch to the other stick and try again.
