Hey all,
i just got to 1.4 ghz on my 1.2 thunderbird. i used to get an average of 49-50c after a night of Counterstrike but now, with the new 1.4 Ghz, i'm getting about 55c. Is this ok? what's the upper limit i should be worried about? thanks.

yikes! what kind of cooling do you have around your chip (fans, thermal paste, etc)? that seems a little high....

well, no, not at all. but how long is my CPU's lifespan? are we talking 5 years or 5 months? At full load, or after an hour of Counterstrike, i'm sitting at about 52c. is that ok? you can see the specs to my rig in my signature. but yeah, i'm runnin a MSI K7T Turbo.

Just checked your rig page and found the problem and possible solution. Your fan on your heatsink is the nice quiet Denki fan, but it doesn't meet the airflow you should be using for that hot processor, especially and overclocked Athlon 1.2. You might should upgrade to the delta 7000 rpm fan for that Pal6035, its obnoxiously loud but will probably lower you by 4-6 degrees, from the denki(dinky)fan.

woah, you're right. funny how i didn't even think of that. but you knwo what. my comp's rock solid now after a night of Prime95 madness. at it's peak my rig was hittin' 57c but that's as far as it got. at idle, it's 51, but it's all good. i know tho in the summertime, i'm gonna have to do something about lowering it due to NYC's notorious July's and Augusts.
