Is this site real or is it a scam?

They are a wholesale fish store based out of Bali. They have some really good prices, but something about their site makes me hesitent (not to mention being out of country). Is there anything I can do to check them out? Also what would be the safest way to order from an overseas company? How hard would it be to dispute the charges with visa?

Just a simple phone call within 90-days of the charge.

I would get confirmation from Visa that they are a valid vendor first.

Well first of all you'll need to get yourself a business ID. This place is a wholesaler and i'm sure won't deal with a customer who wants to order one or two fish.

You do realize that you were to place an order with this place, it would be next day, and considering it's half way across the world it'll cost you a pretty penny.

Just check your local fish shop or other online stores that are actually located in the US.

Bali is part of Indonesia, and Indonesia, if I understand correctly, is rife with credit card fraud. Caveat Emptor.

Indonesia is also full of marine exporters who use cyanide to catch their fish. I can't say for certain if this place does it, but why take the chance?

On shipping, its impossible to get next day from any company from indonesia to the USA, becuase the fastest fedex goes there is 3days. Even with Airport to airport shipping it would be less but not faster then 48hrs.

Not to mention customs and possible legal requirements for bringing any live animal into the country.

Thanks for all the info, they are a whole sale site, but I allready have a business ID. Also, the 10 fish minimum would be easy to hit with a few friends. The shipping will probably be very high, but at the prices they are charging that's ok. I'm mostly worried about fraud.

If that site is fraud... it's a pretty good one. I don't think I'd worry about fraud, but like chrisisbored said.... find out their collection methods and shipping price. Their prices are about half what I pay here in CA, but after shipping I'm sure it's more than I pay.

Edit: Oh, I guess some of the prices (Clowns and Tangs) are quite a bit cheaper than local stores. And that error page is pretty... um... unprofessional.

It lost some formatting, shipping example was only $11.17. I would expect a little bit of an increase if they're shipping to the states. They're in Indonesia....as said above, order from somewhere slightly more local.

What would be a good local place? Whole sale is ok.

Being in Bali makes me nervous, but it would also give them a cost advantage.
