Is this sexual discrimination?

My fiancee is a graduating physics major from the Colorado School of Mines. Last year there was this Professor that harassed her, saying that "Women can't do nuclear physics". This guy was a tight ass, and was very serious about it. Other women physics majors have had the same problem. They went to the deptarment head, told them about the problem and nothing has been done. What's the next step? A class-action lawsuit? Something else?

Thanks...

seems like free speech to me, unless it can be proved he sabotaged the grades of his female students...

My HS chem teacher had a vendetta against females... the class started off with 12 girls... within the first 2 weeks, either the girl cried and ran out of class or dropped the class. It kinda sucked 🙁, most of them were hot.

It doesn't help his situation...

It's pretty common for women to be looked down upon in scientific fields. Just ignore it and prove those assholes wrong. Bitching about it just takes time that you could be using to make progress of your own.

Sadly, it's very common. Filing a complaint with the Dean is a step, but even in explicit cases action is not always taken. I am sending you a PM with a link she might want to explore.

You obviously haven't been around many mature women to figure out that they don't give a fvck.

I'm sure they are, which is why they need to grow the hell up.

The world is not always a nice place, & people aren't always going to kiss your ass. If they haven't learned that by the time they reach college, see my first reply.

They probably think you don't care, that's why they don't tell you.

right vs. wrong in physics are subjective ? If they earned an A, they would've gotten an A, no ?

Is everyone's solution a lawsuit these days?

Seriously, if it bothers her that much, report him to the dean. Don't overreact like way too many Americans already do.

It seems wierd that no woman got an A.

Unless you have specific, documented evidence that a student earned an A (per course grading standard) and was given a B you have absolutely nothing.

They seem to think I care about many things...so I'm guessing your wrong. They just happen to be mature and realize there are many more important things to worry about than one person telling them they can't do physics.

well duh! That's because women can't do physics 😛

there are tons of a-holes in this world. Especially in the world of academia where there are so many insecure anti-social people. Gotta learn to live with it.
