I have received many emails exactly the same or similar to the one below, and have never actually clicked on the link to go to the survey.

Is this a scam to confirm working email addresses or is there more to it; such as a virus on the web site link?

Anyone know?

Re: $500 in Red Lobster? restaurant vouchers.
*** Please Review Below ***

Thanks for responding !

We want to treat you to a fresh seafood dinner this month! That's why you've
been chosen to participate in our short dining survey and receive $500 in Red Lobster?
restaurant vouchers. (Participation required. See below for details.)

We just need a few minutes of your time. Simply complete our quick survey,
then follow the instructions on our website before this notice expires.

Your participation is greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
FoodCritic101

No, its totally legitimate. Red Lobster is in the habit of using a hotmail account and giving away 500 dollars just for filling out a survey.

/sarcasm.

Wait.... So your saying they aren't going to give me 500 dollars for free?

the OP is the hotmail guy

Oops. I didn't notice that it was his email account at hotmail.

Still, if they really wanted a survey they could offer a 10.00 off coupon and get a ton of responses.
500? "if it sounds too good to be true...."

You missed this part:

"(Participation required. See below for details.)"

This usually means you have to sign up for various offers like magazines at high rates, movie clubs, insurance, credit cards that sort of thing.

I did a fifty dollar one years ago...got my gift card..but it cost me way more than 50 bucks and took forever to get.

If I remember correctly they are setup so that if you dont follow the rules to the letter you get nothing.

Dude it's totally legit. All I had to do was fill out my info and provide a credit card number (age verfication). I got my vouchers in the mail not long after. They look like they were printed on a ink jet printer but it says that they're valid at any Red Lubster (actual spelling on vouchers but I think they just made a spelling mistake).

If it's too good to be true, it probably is. Not because good things don't happen, they just don't happen to you. It really is that bad, everyone really is talking about you and you should probably quit resisting the urge to engage in petty street crime. That'd probably net you $500 quicker and easier than doing the Red Lubster dealio anyway.

Food for thought.

Oh snap! I didn't see that it was from generically anonymous FoodCritic101. I've heard that he's totally legit, really! Sign up immediately. That dude is a sexual tyranasaurus! You'll probably get free 'enhancement' pills with your lubster.

This. I did it and got all 500 vouchers -- $1 off any meal over $30 @ Red Lubster between Wednesday and Thursday from 3:15 pm to 3:30 pm with the purchase of a Circuit City gift card.

Problem is, there aren't any Red Lubsters in my area, and by area, I mean quadrant in the known universe.
