Have a pair of THESE 4.1 Bostons and have them connected to a HP ZV6000 laptop with THIS connector.

Have the front, rear and sub plugged into the Radio Shack 1 into 3 adapter at the head phone plug.

Someone told me I should have the sub connected to the microphone jack and just split the front and rear speakers into the head phone jack.

Just want to make sure all this business will not kill the onboard sound card.

Any suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried it...Sounds great...

The sub volume is much higher on the lappy versus connected to my desktop that has a M-Audio Revolution 7.1 sound card.

Have not tried connecting the sub to the microphone input...And probably will not unless someone can tell me that connecting input to input which I assume in most instances would not be a good idea, that it will not hurt anything.

Hey the setup sounds really nice...Especially compared to the Altec Lansings that come in the lappy...Typical tin can lappy sound versus a 4.1 speaker system.

Great cheap upgrade...But only if it will not harm the laptop.

Better safe than sorry...That is why I am trying to get advice and feedback.

Guess I could take your advice unfalliblekrutch and plug the sub into the microphone input plug and see what happens.

But for now I will hope for some more reply's.

I'm not sure what you think you will accomplish by connecting the input of the sub to the input of the mic?

I do not think it will accomplish anything...I was just told that is the way to connect a 4.1 system to a lappy.

Guy told me to get a two way mini jack splitter and connect the front and rear speakers to the headphone output and connect the sub to the microphone jack.

Just going to leave all the speakers connected to the headphone jack...Sounds great with the exception of the sub having to be turned way down...About 1/3 volume and it sounds good...1/2 volume and it is cranking...2/3 volume and it is booming...3/4 and it is clipping big time.

I have been playing B.B. King "Deuces Wild" for a couple of days now non stop for days now and it seems to be holding up.

Just did not want to hurt the sound card...I guess time will tell.
