Is this safe for a laptop

Is it okay to leave the screen on on a specific background for a long period of time

Would my TFT suffer a burnt in image like the Projection ?

i.e leaving it on for the whole night... without doing anything~

i've never changed the backround on my laptop---
but then- my backround is just solid a solid blue backround so it probably doesnt matter..
i would still guess that its okay.

i wouldn't leave anything on the screen of any computer for an extended period of time. That's why we have screensavers. You don't need to change your back ground a lot just make sure you have a SS. Besides, how long do you just let it sit with the background showing?

i have a wall paper.. but sometimes i'm away at school.. or i'm at the gym.. and the laptop sits here doing nothing..

and I dont want to shut it off.. cuz it takes forever to boot up~

It shouldn't matter, but if you're leaving it on overnight why not set your power management to shut the LCD off after like 30 minutes? Do your part to conserve electricity.

The LCD will go a long long time, its the backlight to worry about (even then most never burn out with normal use)

why do nothing? heres a screensaver and distrib computing thats helps look for a cure for cancer🙂 http://www.intel.com/cure/

i never notice it running, you don't need to use its screensaver.. you can't burn in lcds that i know of. but the backlights do burn out eventually, i have no idea how long they last.. probably too long to care😛

i put the "blank" screen saver on. if you have the screen on too long, it can burn out, or at least a few pixels of them can get stuck.

The reason we have screen savers NOW is because people like how they look. They serve very little purpose. It takes a really long time to burn an image into any of todays monitors.

I don't think LCD's suffer burn in at all. (otherwise, wouldn't the year burn into the LCD of you watch? 😛 ) I would be more concerned about the back light burning out.

haha

i thought we had screensavers so we wouldn't have to buy fish tanks

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA! My favorite screensaver is FISH! I keep that up on my computer all the time. Much better than real fish.. i don't have to feed them, don't need to change the water.

😀

Screensavers serve no purpose anymore. All they do is make your screen pretty when your not at it. CRT technology has come quite a ways from when people actually needed SS's. When was the last time ANYONE saw an image burned into a recently made monitor?
