I'm looking for entry road bike for recreation riding and maybe some amateur duathlons...could anyone tell me if this is a good bike and whether it's a good deal?

http://www.craigslist.org/sby/bik/25791154.html

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for a road bike in the price range of $300-$400, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

For those of you too lazy to follow the link, this is a 2003 giant OCR3 (claimed to have been ridden for less than 4 hours total).

OCR3s are very good entry level bikes (so I've heard... never owned one). Check out the reviews at Road Bike Review to see what others think.

This bike usually retails for $600 and bikes are pretty hard to find at prices below retail. For a 1 year old model, I'd check what the prevailing prices on ebay are, but this sounds like a good deal to me.

I also found this guy on craigslist that has a bunch of used road bikes for $150-$300, as a beginner would I be able to tell the difference between some of these bikes that he's selling vs. the 2003 Giant OCR3?

for a new road bike you'd want something with 105 level components... which would cost alot more than your budget. you'd need about 800$ to get into road bike... so, for your budget, i'd recommend going for old/vintage steel bike. go to a bike shop, and get yourself fitted, because that plays huge importance. they may have some used stock they can show you... check out bike forums like bikeforums.com for tips and stuff... roadbikereview.com has a classified section, too. have someone in the know check if the frames are straight, parts are in good shape, etc
