Is This Right ?

Ok so i've been playing Crysis 3 for a little bit now and was wondering if my FPS seems weird to you. On MP i get 70-85 FPs with dips in the 60s at High details and FXAA. I have a HD 7870 1200/1450 at 1080p. I would have thought my FPS would be alot lower then this.

turn on 2xsmaa or 2xmsaa with 16xaa or 4xmsaa and see what your frames look like 😉

and put settings on very high 😛 but nah try 2xsmaa or msaa n see wha happens.... on my 7950 with max settings 16xaa ans 2xsmaa i get 50-70 on avg depending on map with bursts of 80-83 this game is so demanding i do dip into the 39-45 region sometimes...

does seems high i guess.....prolly settings have alot to do with it

Hey, if you want to see your FPS drop, Very High settings with 8xMSAA are sitting there waiting for you. :whiste:

The game really isn't as demanding as some people make it seem. It's really just that stupid first level that brings down framerates.

Also, a 7870 is quite a capable card... people like to glorify the higher end cards but quite honestly, for ALL games at 1080p at reasonable settings, the 660/7870 is good enough. The 7870 more so when you've got it at those clocks.

Thx also i see you have an HD 7950. Do you mind comparing our two cards at the same clocks to see how much of a performance difference there is

Well, I can't get mine up to 1200/1450 so you'll have to tune it down. Also I don't think Crysis 3 has a benchmark, IIRC... I just remember I was hitting 60 fps most of the time with everything maxed out, 2x SSAA.

If you really want I can run a benchmark of your choice. Although there's already a lot of them in the Unigine threads!

we can run

Uniengine Heaven
Uniengine Valley
3DMark 11
3DMark 2013

and some of your choice

Well, I'm on a fresh reformat so I don't have much, but I installed the latest Valley and ran it at Extreme HD settings:

Sounds about right... I actually lied a bit, I'm running on 1125/1500 as opposed to 1100/1500 (as listed in my sig), but that should only account for half a frame or so.

At clock for clock, the 7870 should be doing at least 70% of what a 7950 can. I think good price for value ends with the 660/7870 tier, but people don't like to think so.
