Is this really the official way to address envelopes?

No comma after the city and four spaces after the state? :s

If not, what is the official way? I'm also curious if there should be a period after an abbreviation such as "Ct." I checked usps.com, but the list of abbreviations is in all caps with no periods, so I still don't know.

And I know it doesn't really matter, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Just a bit.

all caps, no punctuation. I don't know about the 4 spaces bit. this is just to make it easier for the USPS's handwriting recognition software to read correctly.

that's the right way to do it.. the state abbreviation should be in all caps.. (no period).

wasn't always that way, but that's what's right now.

Oh, sorry. I guess I should've clarified. I meant "Ct." as in "Court," not "Connecticut." I know the state is all caps w/o punctuation.

it's no period, all caps... and yes, the gap for the zipcode is spose to be there. It's supposedly to make it easier to scan.. or so I was told.

And I wonder about this sometimes.. when you do rebates, they say "type exactly this..." and technically, it's not "official" and if you do make it official.. they could probably void your rebate.... yes, random thought..

Ah... didn't read the whole site. Thanks for your trouble

I think doing it the right way might bother me more than doing it the wrong way though :(
