I always find it remarkable how many white people throw out all the counterexamples to argue that things are never racist. You just don't get it.

Hey hey now...you are generalizing white people, you racist. I'm offended.

See how retarded that is? Grow up.

The funny thing is that you did seem offended by it.

Haha, that's hilarious. Well, chinese people DO have slant eyes. They're just pointing out the facts.

Edit:
How do you mock spanish people?
Have you ever heard a Spanish accent? It's hilarious, half of their words are said with a lisp.

When I was a kid, other kids would make fun of me by doing the slanted eyes thing.

If someone were to come up to me on the street today and do the same thing, I would feel offended.

Looking at this ad, I don't feel offended. I feel amused. I think the difference is that I don't feel that there is the bad intent here, just imitation. I understand that other Asians will think differently, and therefore I think the ad makers were short-sighted.

Anyway, I think that all the rest of you are just jealous because you can't be blindfolded with dental floss like us Asians. 😛

It doesn't matter if it was racist or not, the people still got offended. All these terms such as racist and insensitive are meaningless. The team made a bad decision and people got offended.

If someone of another race talks mockingly in an Indian accent in front of an Indian, that Indian person may get offended. I don't know the intentions of these Spanish players.

I'm about 100% certain the dozens of people who were part of that ad did not thing "Hey lets go make a racist ad about China!!". If they thought it was bad, they would not have printed it which = it wasn't meant to be hurtful.

I do find it funny that I rarely hear white people complain of shit like this. You could call any random white person a redneck, cracker, make fun of dancing, etc....and there wouldn't be a worldwide outcry to make it stop.

Different situations and past histories. Whites have been up on the ladder for the past few centuries. That may change in the future, who knows. It doesn't really matter.

Most of the NYT comments follow the trend of "this is not racist. Everyone is just to sensitive/PC"

Bullshit. Of course it's racist. But who cares, it's not illegal to be a racist... in America... yet. I know there are some fucked up laws in the UK regarding racism, dunno about Spain.

Please explain how it is racist. I'd like to hear that one.

Let's say it was being hosted in Africa and the Spain team decided to make their lips huge, would that not be racist?

Are you implying that African people have huge lips? I think that makes you a racist.

Well that is the stereotype hence the example. A lot of Asians have slanty eyes (hell look at my avatar). Implying (or using something for an example) and carrying out an action is different however.

AT avatars are racist!
