Bah, stop trying to pigeonhole the music into categories and simply enjoy it for what it is.

ahha i just wanna be able to tell whats the difference between punk and rock

can anyone explain the differences?

its too organized for punk, has good guitar, so its rock

i really like that, is it available on regular outlets? or do i have to get it from some wierdo web site?

First song sounds more like punk. Seconds sounds like some form of emo. But as long as you like it, who cares what its called?

Who gives a sh!t what it is? Does it make it sound any better or worse if it is labelled with something?

If you want to call it punk and be perfectly accurate, its got to have, generally, no more than three chords, played as fast as possible, haphazard drums interspersed throughout, and bass playing only root notes.

That said, what you played, if you WANT to give it a label, was emo.

the reason i asked for all this labeling thing is that a good frined of mine likes this stuff. I have no idea what hes talking about so I want to learn a bit more about rock music.

Misinformation ahoy!

Punk is a progression of 50's surf rock. Speeding up songs that already existed, etc. It became its own thing when the Who hit the mainstream at least in my opinion. 'Punk' music was never all that much about the music, but the message. Today's 'punk' music is nothing more than commercial pop music with an attitude to draw stupid kids who feel the need to rebel against something. I think it's funny because while the same is true for the origins of punk, there was actually something to rebel against back then. Today punk is about raging against the mall, and how your mean parents bought you a BMW instead of a Mercedes. The message was lost in translation. Punk was never supposed to be a musical masterpiece, which is why most people consider it to be boring, rather it was meant to act as a vehicle for voice.

That being said, I didn't listen to either of them because labling music is pointless.
