From the link you provided, it looks that PSU label lists other PSUs as well. That's already a bad sign that's it's of low quality.

Yea that site give no information at all. I hope it doesn't kill his system.

No easy way to post a label pic, sorry. However you're correct in saying that it lists multiple units. On the sticker table, horizontal axis are the PSUs in watts (600-650-700-750-800), vertical the voltages. The relevent (checked) 750W column reads +3.3v 42A; +5V(small 1) 60A; +12V 24A; -5V 0.5A; -12V 0.8A; +5VSB 2.0A; +3.3V&+5V max 360W.

AC Input 200-240V (I have a healthy 240V at the wall) with gradually increasing currents on the horizonal (PSU watts) axis. There's 11A indicated on the relevent 750W column.

It also has a seperate table reading 1.3 2.2 PFC P4. The 1.3 and P4 boxes are checked.

Other than that it's marked 'Tested to comply with FCC standards' and it carries a CE (European) mark, as well as a RoSH mark.

I'm afraid that's about all the info I can give, sorry.

+12V @ 24A is only 288W. I've seen 350W power supplies with more juice than that on the +12V.

It's passive PFC in a small form factor with only 24A on the +12V. I bet that PSU isn't even a 500W in reality.

Hmmm.. so I'm looking at about 139w on the +3.3v, 300w on the +5v and 288w on the +12V. Adds up to 727w (peak?). I'm guessing that's where the 750W comes from then.

So in reality it's a less powerful unit than some of the 450W and 500W continuously rated PSUs I'm looking at now. The whole PSU market seems like a minefield for the unknowledgeable and unwary. Talk about doublespeak!

OK. Thanks to everybody for the help and advice, much appreciated and very informative.
Update is that the crap PSU I bought isn't up to it, no surprise there then..! :)
On the bright side they've agreed to refund the cash on return. It's gonna cost me the return shipping costs but I suppose that's a relatively small price to pay for the lesson learned and knowledge gained so far.

Having looked around, seems like the OCZ600SXS may be a reasonable option for the bangs per buck equation and what I need it to do. Specs

Any thoughts?

Don't bother with the StealthXStream PSU. It's based off the FSP Episilon PSU design which has out of spec ripple, or voltage fluctuations, at high loads that can damage or kill your system. Granted, you may not reach such high loads but why pay for a PSU that can kill your system?

Try to find the Antec Earthwatts 500W, Corsair 450VX, BFG LS-550 and Seasonic line of PSUs in your country.
