Is this practice common?

I'm off to the Comedy Connection in Boston after a 2 year hiatus. My girlfriend, when securing the tickets on the phone, was told that there was a 2 item minimum purchase per person.

I checked their website:

Once in the club, there is a two-item minimum per person; the two-item minimum is not included in the ticket price.

Mind you, I drink like a fish, so this is of no consequence on that level. But I have never heard of minimums like this in addition to the ticket prices.

Is this common now?

Craziness. Although it makes sense that such a policy would never be brought to my attention.

How is this policy enforced?

Pretty common, and get alcoholic drinks. You'll need them to get over the fact that you would be paying $3+ for a can of soda

I've heard of that in strip clubs in amsterdam that one time where they almost kicked me out because the drinks were really expensive and the girls were really really hot, but I haven't heard about that at places where you buy TICKETS for.

So, how do they enforce it? Do they stamp the tickets or smth and check on your way out?

NM. BannedTroll has already answered it.
