First the details:
Right now I have Time Warner Cable and subscribe to their digital tier along with the DVR. We save the last 4 episodes of both Diego and Dora so she can have a small selection when she is in the mood for either one. Our main TV is located in our living room. The two larger bedrooms upstairs have a TV. Her room does not have one.
I work weekend nights (5th shift). For those who don't know it's a compressed work week. I work my 40 hours over a period of 3 consecutive nights. This morning my wife had to go help my mother-in-law next door and I was assigned to babysit my daughter for a brief bit. I was dog tired so I asked her if she wouldn't mind watching TV with daddy upstairs in bed. She was thrilled and both of us ran upstairs. I got into my PJs and we turned on the TV. It was then that my daughter looks at me and asks, "Daddy? Dora please?" I explained to her that we don't have Dora or Diego upstairs and that we'd watch Little Einsteins instead (another one of her favorite shows). But she wasn't interested and I became cranky because she wouldn't stop asking the question.
This got me thinking. Would it be possible to export the Diego and Dora shows into a HTPC that could reside in the main bedroom? If it's possible, what would I need in terms of hardware for such a venture. If it isn't possible, what could I use instead? Knowing that my wife and I have different tastes in shows is another reason why I'd like to see if this is possible. While I watch Human Weapon downstairs she could be watching Dancing with the Stars upstairs.
