I figure after I pay my bills - car payment, car insurance, phone/dsl, etc. - I have about $954 a month for other things.

Can I get an apartment off this and live or maybe even a house(i'm thinking a major no on the house)?

Right now I'm thinking its gonna be tough. say the apartment costs $500, thats $400 left for food, gas, and other things. I'm thinking $500 as an average cost of an apartment around here but I don't know for sure. Its probably at least a little more than that. Are there any extra costs with going with an apartment?

plus i need furniture. i have bedroom furniture so i can save there, but i would need other furniture, appliances, and kitchenware, bathroom stuff, etc.

you need glasses if you see anywhere i said chick...

so i'm guessing that people have reverted to just asking for pics if the thread title has anything that might be construed as sexual instead of reading the posts (not that you lazy ass fvcks read a post longer than 4 words anyway).

How much food do you consume?
How much gas do you use in a month?
Define "other things"?
How often do you go out?
How much do you spend when you do?
Bills?
Current expenses that would change (for better or worse) as a result of the new place?

It's impossible to tell if you can do it or not, with the information you've provided. The only one who can do that is you, after assessing ALL of your expenses.

i eat out for lunch at work during the week. usually subway or italian place. but i could cut back or bring something instead.

gas - right now, probably close to $120 a month. depends on where this apartment is, i might save or i might end up costing a little more.

go out - like going to bars and clubs and special events? maybe like twice a year. how much do i spend? as little as possible. i'm not a big drinker of alcohol.

other things = clothes and entertainment. this wouldn't be an every month type thing though.

the $954 is how much i have left after all my current bills. the phone/dsl bill might change because i'm not sure what i would have at an apartment. might be cheaper. doubt it would be higher.

From what you said here, it sounds like you could probably do it...but you wouldn't be saving very much, or have a lot of extra cash. As you said, sounds like it'll be sort of tough. Maybe find a roommate(s) on Craigslist and move into a shared place? You'd save a lot on rent + bills that way, plus you'd probably have a bigger place overall.

i'm very much against a roommate unless its a friend. unfortunately all my friends are married and have their own places.

I'd fine a roommate. I live on my own, but wish I had found a roommate. Having extra cash is always nice.
