Is this possible...

I have to work on a Laptop for a friend, but i need internet connection. I only have one nic port in my room, but my computer has dual ethernet ports. Is there anyway to chain my internet connection off of this computers?

yes it possible cuz my frined did it though my comp in sig but i was not paying attention when he did but i am just confirming that it is possible

It's not a motherboard/BIOS issue. I haven't done it, so can't give you specific instructions, but look up Internet Connection Sharing in Windows XP.

Internet Connection Sharing is the answer.
Easiest way is to use the Wizard and set everything to automatic.

have you tried just plugging it in? I'm sure you can run your primary computer as a hub and give internet access to the notebook.

I get an error that reads:

An error occurred while INternet Connection Sharing was being enabled.

Internet Connection Sharing cannot be enabled. A LAN connection is already configured with the IP address that is required for automatic IP addressing.

Sounds like a router issue. In which case, even if it isn't, what do i have to change?
