Just logged on to check my email addrees, and apparently, I've sent myself some files. How is this possible? Is someone else using my email address other than me? Or is this just a trick??
I noticed that there's a new breed of spam starting that is masquerading itself as a bounced e-mail, tricking you into opening it. Is that what it looks like?
What do you mean by bounced email??? the emails I've received is from the same sender as the receiver, in this case, myself. But I know that I'm not sending myself emails, and plus, I was at work.
The email appears like you send it and it bounce back; there is an Attachment that claim to explain.
This attachment contains the Virus.
There are even emails pretend to be Upgrades from Symantec Antivirus, Microsoft Security patches etc,
What it is common to all of them is attachments, and these attachments contain the Viruses.
Many of these attachments pretend to be ?promised passwords?, Screen savers?, "security patches." Claim to be ?Your Text?, ?Your File?
The First Rule of email:?Never open an attachment unless it was agreed upon?. Agreed Upon means that a person that you know send you first a trusted email that tells you that he is going to send an Attachment.
emails can be 'from' or 'to' any user you want, its very simple. you can look into the headers to try to figure out some real info for yourself if you want, though even that can be spoofed at times.
jsut remeber, DONT OPEN A FILE IF YOU DONT KNOW WHERE IT CAME FROM!
