is this possible to do?

I have 2 network cards in my PC.
Is it possible to make one only available to say one type of traffic and the other to another type? both would be connected to the same router. i'm not even sure that would make any kind of difference.

basically when i use torrents to download, it kills the rest of my connection and i was wondering if i could use this to my advantage somehow?

If the torrents are saturating your WAN connection, you won't see any increase in speed. I think. Correct me if I be wrong-like.

If they're connected to the same router, what difference does it make? It's your connection, not your computer, that's getting saturated.

That sounds about right to me. Some routers have packet shaping (I think that's what it's called) which lets you limit or prioritize traffic based on port/application/user/etc.
