right now i am a 16 y/o who is 6'0'' and i weigh about 155 pounds. is it possible to, by mid august, be about 180 or so?

by gaining weight i dont want to gain any body fat. i simply want to bulk up with muscle. is this possible in this amount of time? secondly, i would not like to deal with any drugs/substances such as steroids, or those that will fvck with my body at all.

how can i go about doing this? will gaining a lot of muscle sacrifice my ability to run or otherwise make me sluggish?

you should start training hard, each bodypart once a week, and eating a ton of protein. you'll gain some good muscle by August (for football?) but there is no way you'll gain 25 lbs. of muscle. it just doesn't grow that fast.

if you want to give it a go, start lifting with big muscle groups like the legs(squats) and chest(bench press) and back(lat pulldowns). also, do only about 3-5 reps per set, between 7-9 sets. rest about 3 mins between sets. this type of workout will emphasize size as opposed to endurance.

When you work out you actually tear your muscles, and that's why you are sore after a workout. You need to give your body time to eat all of those tears that you just made, and it's not a fast process. That's why you can't gain that much weight in a little amount of time.

i wanna get bigger for soccer. the ideal build for me would be 185lbs at 6'2". but i cant stimulate height growth (and 2 inches doesnt matter). i want size, but i also want endurance in the muscle. i just dont want it to be sitting there. i play midfield, but i need to have some body to throw around.

well, that's what you have to do, basically. You ain't gonna look good though if you do the size workout like someone else mentioned. I don't think that going less than 8 reps per set is a good idea, but that's just me.

and sleep like a mofo...
i remember when i was muscle bulking..i slept 9hrs or more a day...
and set my alarm to wake me up every 3hrs...even in the middle of the night..
i had like 3 protein shakes by the bedside...and once i woke up, i'd drink one
and go back to bed. Sometimes shakes are too heavy for u to handle at that hour..so i cycled between
shakes and liquid aminos(freeform+bcaa). That will help keep u in +ve N balance as much as possible and helps recuperate
faster.

not for everyone...and definitely hardcore but...
grew huge that way.

For soccer?!?
You're 16 man!!!!
Dont' lift weights to gain weight.. I bet by 19/20 you fill out to the size you want naturally. Just play a lof sports, get lots of cardio and eat a lot. Lift weights for your upper body, but there's no need to go O.B.
Just give it time, I know it's not what you want to hear, but it's the best way.

Sometimes not matter how determined you are it's not possible. The only way I can imagine someone gaining 32 pounds of muscle in 16 weeks is steroids.

This guy also said he wants to gain muscle without gaining fat. You just don't gain that much that easily. And the more cardio you do the less muscle you will build, but the heart is the most important muscle.

Edit: I read his site he said he gained 32 pounds in 12 weeks. Not even 16. He also said he dropped his bodyfat. Anyway, I'm sure it's possible for some, but genetics will matter a lot.

Yep, 16 years olds don't need steroids.
It will come naturally, you grow until your about 21 with 19 -21 your 'filling out' stage.
You won't get much bigger but by working out you will become much STRONGER esp in 4 months you can become a LOT stronger.

Yes it is possible, but don't expect to gain only muscle, during a bulk up fase you have to be prepared to add some fat to your body too...

Use creatine (if you can find it, use creatine pyruvate, if not, use creatine monohydrate, take it with dextrose in a drink), that will give you some extra pounds (how many depends on how well you respond) 5 - 7 meals a day and 40-50g of protein per meal, use HMB and antioxidants after training, use Omega-3 oil to even out the carb response, eat proteins, fat and carbs with every meal except for the one in the morning and the one right after workout, in those meals, skip the fat...

Work out five days a week one muscle group per day, 9-12 sets per muscle group, 3-6 reps per set, when you can do 6 you up the weight until you can only do 3... Go so heavy that you have to cheat on the last rep, then do a negative...

You have to REALLY bust your balls to do this, it's gonna cost you time and money and if you stop doing it, you will loose what you have gained...

If it's worth it, is up to you..

Regarding the testosterone high in your teenage years, yes, it is higher, but is in no way comparable to the amounts of testosterone even the light juicers use...

I once gained around 30 pounds in 8 weeks, but that was after i had an injury and had to rest, if you have had the muscle before, you can gain it back a lot easier and faster, it's called muscle memory...

For someone who haven't had the muscle before, without drugs, 32 pounds in 16 weeks is impossible, not even the genetic freaks can do that...

Yes, it is completely possible. Eat a ton though, and work out a lot. Not possible if you plan on doing anything but work out this summer. May I suggest a boxing working for you?

Nobody seemed to mention genetics.....first of all, you're 16.....that kind of weight gain at that age is literally impossible. You can get much stronger especially since you're at the age where it's healthy for you to start weight lifting regularly.....any younger and you can actually stint your growth rather then make gains. But your genetics will really take you to your capacity. If you're 150 pounds now and you eat anything you want and you don't gain a pound......that has to do with genetics......you basically have to intentionally slow your metabolism down......but don't expect huge muscle gains. I'd say if you're a soccer player, take that other guys advice.....keep workin out, play a lot of sports, and you'll see over time you'll fill out. Keeping your motivation is all about the little goals......you'll just run out of steam if you set them too too high.......good luck.

I have seen this claim so many times, and to some extent it is true, but you can actually create new muscle fibers (hyperplasia) and not just increase the size of your current ones (hypertrophy) so that part of the genetic claim is discarded in my eyes, hormone levels can be different, but if they are low enough to matter you will have problems that will require medication to get them up again...

Usually, the guys who train for a month, or just don't put their soul into their training will claim that they are genetically average and are never going to put on mass...

The thing is, it takes a lot of willpower to put on mass, you have to give it all you got, you have to go to the gym even if it's five miles away, raining and your car broke down... You have to watch your diet, you have to eat properly.... The people who don't have the will to do that will look at the gains of those who have the will and claim that it is all about genetics...

That seems extremely skinny. I'm 5'10" and I weigh in at 170. I don't know my body fat percent, but I'm in good shape.
