I am in the proccess of putting together a new system. Rest assured it is going to rock. It will be running my entertainment system. So it is gonna have to look good, I mean the case and all. So anyway I saw a guy selling a little 4"LCD screen. i was wondering if it would be possible to hook this up to your computer in a way so that it can be used to see one thing while the monitor is doing something else. In case that confused you let me give you an example. I want to have my monitor(in this case a Sony Wega 36") doing whatever I need it to, you know like playing games or surfing the net or whatever. Then I want the little screen to display something else such as a screen with the motherboard monitor info on it, or possibly just a screen saver. I just need to know if and how this can be done. I know that the newer versions of windows support dual monitors, but my video card will likely be a ATI AIW Radeon, so i don't know if that will work for me. Could I use 2 video cards in the same system? LMK what you guys think thanks.

You could do that easy, all you would need is a G400 Dualhead or Geforce MX with Twinview. These allow you to run dual monitors under Win98 or Win2k. The second display can be a CRT or TV.

You can buy 4" LCD with a composite interface for a couple hundred, then you use the second output from you G400 or GF2 MX for the LCD. SO basically this would mean you would be running your primary monitor on your Wega through a TV or something similar and the second display would TV output.

Thanks for that Jugernot. But i think i will be using the ATI AIW Radeon vid card. So I don't have the twin view ability. Any other suggestions?

Well the only problem with that is that you need a display adapter that lets you have a second desktop for the LCD.

Hope you figure something out!

you can use a second video card to run the lcd. generally, you want to run two identical video cards, but then if one is agp, then it's gonna be hard, plus most mobo's befault to have the pci card as the primary, you'll have to find a bios update for that.

but if you're lucky, you can try using a crappy pci video card for the lcd, get the bios flashed, and the cards will run compatibly with each other. if you're not lucky, then, umm.. you're screwed. get another radeon... for the 4-incher.. haha
