I would certainly feel sympathy for her, but of course I would not approach her, unless she was chugging on a big jug of SunnyD.

I would say that some guys feel that way some of the time.

thanks for the answer froggie. :)

yeah but in the situation you described (where shes coming out alone), I'd think a guy is the last person she wants to talk to.

That doesn't really have much bearing on whether the guy would want to console her. You can want to do something and not do it, after all.

Same.
It would just seem creepy if a bloke actually did go up to her and try and help.
Doesn't mean that the bloke would be being creepy, but the way society works it's just not something you can really do.

I have had the urge to help, console, and even hug people in need, and have actually done so.

Edit: Never in the described situation, mind you.

I would say it's a good sign that you're human. It has nothing to do with being female.

I guess the poor girl either A) Just found out she was pregnant, or B) Just had an abortion.

Yeah, I bet you like them knocked up!

What's wrong with preggers? The damage has already been done...it's now just a playpen...for a while. ;)

As chauvinistic as this sounds, this is 100% correct.

QFT.

And think about it:

1. You know she puts out;
2. You know she is willing to get an abortion;
3. Since she was alone, you know she probably broke up with the guy...

j/k

Though I would probably feel bad for her, it would be totally inappropriate on many levels for me to approach her in almost any way.

When I read the A), I was like "trashy whore".

But when I read B), my heart just broke thinking that... poor poor girl if that was the case....

I was typing out a post nearly identical, until I saw yours.

If she just found out she's pregnant, you label her a whore, but if she just got an abortion, you feel sympathy for her.

Inside, I would want to help her but I would be afraid that whatever I would say/do would be taken the wrong way.

I remember one time this girl was outside of our English class and she looked about to cry. I asked her what was wrong, and she started crying and told me what her problems were. It ended up that I was able to help her and I made a close friend out of it.

That's pretty cool. Not something that happens every day.
