Is this only a female thing only?

as i was driving by i just happened to see a girl (younger, late teens probably), coming out of Planned Parenthood. she was calling someone on her cellphone and she was visibly crying.

i wanted to console her. :(

so, is it just a female thing to want to help this girl out? or are there guys who would feel an emotional twinge if they saw that?

I'd want to, but as a 20 year old guy, that might be a little strange. I'd certainly think about it for the rest of the day though.

I doubt she wants a hug from one of us guys. That what get her to the clinic in the first place.

Any feeling of sympathy I might have would be totally overridden by the thinking I should mind my own business.

yes, it's a female thing. Guys would only want to offer some kind of help/consolation if they think there's a chance of scoring some "benefits" from it...

no. because I wouldnt want to be consoled by random strangers if I was in her position. I'd only want to talk to people I know and trust - close friends and family.

Most I might do is ask if she's ok. But probably not

Well... she was walking out of planned parenthood crying... I doubt she really wants to talk to a stranger about her issue cause its obviously pretty personal.

I would say that some guys feel that way some of the time.

thanks for the answer froggie. :)

yeah but in the situation you described (where shes coming out alone), I'd think a guy is the last person she wants to talk to.

As chauvinistic as this sounds, this is 100% correct.

Jeez I wanted to make fun of the thread title and say something about the "Department of Redundancy Department" but it really is a heavy topic.

I know I would've wanted to console her, but I'd be very unsure of her reaction of a guy coming to her during a time like that. I wonder if a lot of guys who wouldn't console her walk on because of that reason.

Different question is, would either gender have that reaction if it were a male coming out of there crying?

Something funny is happening in my pants.

No, just kidding. I'd feel bad for her too if I saw her as well.

honestly, i would. sure, he's not the one pregnant, but he must've got some bad news, and at the time he would be all alone.
