Is this one of those cracked cores?

Guys, I really can't figure this out. Is that what everyone means when they talk about a cracked core? The damn thing won't work nomatter how hard I try. Also is it normal to have to insert a processor in two pieces?

here is a pic. Can someone help me out PLEASE???!

Thanks

actually...if u push the 2 pieces together real hard and bust a monster sh!t on it...it has a pretty good chance of working. I swear! 😉

sort of reminds me of this intel processor i killed by takeing the heatsink off...........heatsink pulled a piece of the core when i tried to take it off.........i swear no more melcor grease for me

Well, first I was stupid and forgot to check to see my heatsink was clamped down properly, and pop, the thing fries and takes my motherboard with it. Well, i'm already poor, but I take a loan from my mom and replace the mobo and CPU. In the mean time we move and during the move it somehow cracked in half, as you can see... but the weird thing is that the pins are still alright, it's not as if something crushed it... i dunno it's weird. but funny 😀

not even a decent photoshop? come on! 😉 when ceramic cracks, it completely breaks across the whole part, esp. when the crack is as wide as that one 😀

check it out from this angle

:Q that must have taken a LOT of force! maybe the small wires/traces inside held it together

Actually not, I have cracked several 80486s by ust dropping them on a tiled floor.

Just use pencil lead to reconnect all the traces in the ceramic. Might as well unlock those L1 bridges while your at it. You gotta love that pencil trick.
