Welcome to eCost.com, where the "e" stands for "hidden".

Free shipping, +$4.95 "handling fee".

Ok, so besides ecost charging extra $4.95 for handling, making this totalling $60 or so. Is this still a good deal for a Viking 1GB SD card? Any opinions on how fast the Viking SD is? I am really interested also. Thanks for bringing this up OP.

FWIW I bought the Viking 256 MB SD card from BUY.com when they were running a special on it a while back. I am using the card in a Canon A510 and it's been working fine for me.

Summary - DO NOT BUY FROM eCOST.

Why?
(What a convienient thread to pop up, I'm am just steaming right now....)

Just got notification via email that the rebate I submitted a month ago for the Viking 512 SD card bought from eCost.com GOT REJECTED. The reason?

"The receipt you submitted is from a non-qualifying store."

What kind of BS is that? The rebate form clearly says eCost.com, so how can they screw this up? Most of their 'deals' are rebate based, with a ton of Viking rebates. WTF?

I am going to call eCost and the rebatestatus.com place and see what's up.

Until then, I would say DO NOT BUY with the intention of receiving that rebate.

75 is roughly what a new 1GB SD card goes for so I suppose this is hot with the rebate. Without the rebate its a normal price.

You can get 1Gig cards for around 70-72 shipped from newegg, fwiw. Sometimes that's simpler than an iffy rebate.

By the way, MrChipMuthabored, thanks for the tip; I was just about to buy some CF from ecost on a Viking rebate. I think I'll hold out for a bit.
